Work and School

Undoubtedly, the best place to be when an emergency or disaster occurs would be at home.  That way, the family could all be together and support one another during the crisis.  However, our modern world generally means that family members are scattered all over the place, especially during the day.  Most families now have two adults, and perhaps some teens, out working during the day, and school will keep children away from home most of the daylight hours.

A 72 Kit can be approached several ways as pertains to offices and schools.  It has sometimes happened that people have been trapped away from home during disasters in their place of work or at a school.  Ideally, everyone in a classroom or office should have a survival kit in place to keep them safe during the first three days of an emergency.  However, there are larger kits that can provide enough survival food and gear for 15 to 30 people.  If you find yourself away from home for a good part of the day, speak to your supervisor about purchasing a survival kit for the office.  The same would hold true for the school.  Knowing that your loved ones will be provided for during an emergency when they are away from home will go a long way to giving you peace of mind.
